Ash Wednesday 2017
This year’s Ash Wednesday service included an extended time of Prayer using the songs of Taize. These short and simple prayers are sung repeatedly and give us the opportunity to experience an intimate time in God’s presence.
We will also have the traditional time for the Imposition of Ashes that marks the beginning of Lent. “The aim of Ash Wednesday worship is threefold: to meditate on our mortality, sinfulness, and our need of a savior; to renew our commitment to daily repentance in the Lenten season and in all of life; and to remember with confidence and gratitude that Christ has conquered death and sin.” - The Worship Sourcebook, p. 451
